Witch Themed Cakes
Iris has a birthday close to Halloween, and it seems every year she has a Halloween themed birthday party. This year was no exception, however, it was narrowed down to witches, which was a lot of fun! I knew right away that I wanted to do a cauldron, but knew it would be too small, so I decided to make a spellbook too. And since she was having an adult friends and family party and then friend sleepover party afterwards, I thought pumpkin cakes would be perfect for that.
Spellbook
My original plan was to place the witch cauldron on top of the spellbook right where you see the spiderweb, but the night before I got cold feet about how that would look, and decided to place the cauldron on it's own plate and I'd ask the client what she wanted in the blank space. So, spiderweb it was! I love how I got the "paper" to look like old parchment.
Cauldron and Witches
This chocolate cake was covered in a thin layer of black vanilla candy reinforced with chocolate. A thin layer of buttercream icing filled the spherical cake as well as attached it to the outside shell. The witches were molded out of candy clay and modeling chocolate.
Rear View of Cauldron and Witches
I really like to make cakes that are have a 360 degree viewable area, and this one really showed off how to do that.

Pumpkin Cakes
The cauldron was chocolate cake, the spellbook was pistachio cake, and the pumpkin cakes were pumpkin spice! Basically it's the cake version of a pumpkin pie, and they are super moist and delicious (not to mention no added fat and high in fiber!)
